We would like to invite you to the Scientific Seminar on Friday, May 23th, 2025, at 9:00 AM in the SKANDA seminar room (Trylińskiego 18) (in-person/hybrid form*) where we will listen to a presentation by Dr. Chihiro Ebihara, the guest of Dr. Piotr Kaczyński.
During the seminar, we will listen to a speech entitled: ‘My Translational Research in Lipodystrophy and Obesity’

Chihiro Ebihara earned her PhD in Medicine from Kyoto University in March 2018, focusing on the development and analysis of a seipin-knockout rat model to investigate the pathophysiology of generalized lipodystrophy. Her early clinical encounters with patients suffering from lipodystrophy inspired her to pursue research aimed at developing curative treatments for this rare disorder.
Currently, Dr. Ebihara serves as a Visiting Research Fellow at Jichi Medical University in Japan. She is working on two research topics: adipose tissue regeneration in lipodystrophy and leptin resistance in obesity. For adipose tissue regeneration, she focuses on the relationship between seipin and lipolysis. For leptin resistance, she focuses on the significance of dietary ketones. Both studies are aimed at developing new therapies for metabolic diseases.
Dr. Ebihara received a travel grant to attend the Lipodystrophy Symposium in 2016 and has been actively engaged in academic research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her goal is to bridge clinical care and basic science to advance therapeutic strategies for metabolic diseases.
